Green Christmas Gifts

by SmithArya on 0 Comments

The Australian fire, the Amazon fire, the American fire... these natural disasters is now reminding us that we need to pay a lot of attention to the environment. Christmas, the all-hands-on-deck holiday, maybe you're already looking at what to buy to decorate yourself for Christmas, or already collecting your gift list. Perhaps you've considered, having a green Christmas?

What we can do?

  1. Make your own Christmas gift wrap

Keep trash bags out of landfills by creating your own simple gift wrap from reusable kraft paper or shopping bags.

  1. Buy used gifts

Lots of fun flea markets, antique shops to find unique and unusual items for family and friends. Add an extra dose of surprise.

  1. Make your own gifts.

Making your own gifts can be a rewarding experience. Personal gifts are always meaningful and show your dedication.

  1. Use natural and recycled decorations.

Christmas decorations are fun and easy to make, whether it's at home, with the kids, or even in your office! Make your own recycled cardboard Christmas village, upgrade recycled wreaths, or reuse old Christmas cards to make wreaths. It's also sustainable and seasonal to decorate with materials collected naturally, such as pine cones, pine branches, and holly.

  1. Use sustainable bamboo tableware and skip the disposables tableware

Instead of using disposable cups and plastic silverware at this year's Christmas party, use dishes that are reusable, or find yourselves a bamboo-fibre tableware set, that's eco-friendly and healthy instead of disposable table serving. If you must use disposables, opt for unbleached, compostable products, which reduce toxins and decompose more easily than traditional disposables.

And there's so much more we can do...

Hopefully everyone can start by going a little green.... Have a happy Christmas!
